Still in warranty with your solar inverter?

If your inverter is less than 5 years old, there’s a good chance you still have warranty (assuming the manufacturer is still in business).
Not sure if the inverter is faulty, or if it is actually reporting a fault elsewhere in your solar system?
See below for the error codes recognized with your particular inverter/solar system.

If the inverter is faulty, and still under warranty, let us take the hassle away from you.  We can often arrange an inverter replacement directly with the inverter manufacturer for you.  In most cases this will cost you nothing, depending on the arrangement we have with the manufacturer.

COMMON INVERTER ERRORS

AeroSharp Inverters

Grid Volt error
Usually this means that the AC fuse may have blown or the AC board may have failed. If the AC fuse is replaced and it immediately blows again, it means there's a short on the AC board and your inverter will need to be replaced. If the inverter is installed within the last 5 years it should be covered under warranty, but unfortunately Aero-Sharp Electric is no longer around to honor any warranties.

Aurora Inverters

Aurora, PowerOne or ABB Solar Inverters
All these inverters are now owned by ABB, who honour the warrranty on all the brands.  These inverters are generally warrantied for 5 years from manufacture, and if you are having any issues ABB now deal directly with customer’s, and arrange to have inverters replaced.

Bosch Inverters

Bosch Solar Inverters hit the market in a flurry of activity based on their name alone. Unfortunately they left the market just as quickly in disgrace.
Euro Solar purchased a truckload and more at ridiculous prices and Installed them well aware that they were rubbish.
If you have purchased one of these Lemons you will be well advised to replace it immediately for a quality product that will last the distance.
Unfortunately there are no warranties on Bosch inverters.

Clenergy Inverters

Clenergy no longer make these inverters, but there is an office in Melbourne that still look after the warranty, and send out refurbished inverters as replacements if required.  Note though that your warranty on these is for a replacement only, postage and labour charges have to be paid.

CMS Inverters

CMS (Carbon Management Systems) went into voluntary administration in 2013. They mainly manufactured 1500W to 10,000W Inverters
Realistically owners will have no warranty due to the company being in receivership.

Delta inverters

Delta is a large international company, their old range of inverters are the Delta Solivia’s, and they generally have a 10 year warranty. 
The new inverters are RPI, which are transformerless, and generally come with a 5 year warranty. 

Fronius Inverters

Fronius is an Austrian based manufacturer of solar inverters and are renowned for their Warranty turnaround time and exceptional quality products.
As avid Fans of the Fronius brand, Driftwind Electrical Technicians are very familiar with all components and functions of your Fronius IG, Galvo, Primo, Symo and ECO inverters, if you are having issues with any Fronius product Driftwind Electrical will be here to help you. We are able to service, replace and maintain all Fronius products.

Growatt Inverters

Growatt have been in Australia for years, and there are a lot of the Sungold and MTL inverters out there.  They come with a standard 5 year warranty, but recently Growatt have stopped paying us for replacing inverters, so you will need to pay to have the replacement inverter swapped over.  They are, however, quite quick at sending replacements most of the time, and do communicate well, which is good.

K-Star Inverters

Chinese brand and comes with a 5 year warranty.  But you are unlikely to get a replacement in less than 3 months, and labour is not included as part of the warranty, so you will need to pay this.

Sharp Inverters

Sharp JH1600 Inverter d-21 Fault
Has your Sharp JH1600 solar inverter a d-21 fault on the screen? Unfortunately the d-21 error is a major internal fault with the inverter.
It is highly likely that an external factor such as Lightning or Power surge on the Grid is the root cause of this issue. These type of faults may be covered by Domestic Home Insurance. This is a fault that Sharp will not cover under warranty, they are blaming an external issue as the cause.

Sharp d-21 Fault – What To Do
If your Sharp JH1600 inverter is stuck on a D21 fault the best thing to do is replace the faulty inverter with a quality 1.5kW solar power inverter. We recommend the Fronius Galvo 1.5 as a nearly bulletproof replacement unit with a long 10 year parts warranty that is perfectly sized to replace the Sharp JH1600.

As also mentioned in Sharp’s response the d-21 fault code is usually caused by lightning or a power surge from the power grid. If you are experiencing issues with your Sharp inverters, don't hesitate to contact us to have a chat?

Samil River One Inverters

Samil is a Chinese brand and comes with a 5 year warranty.  But you are unlikely to get a replacement in less than 3 months, and labour is not included as part of the warranty, so you will need to pay this.

SMA Inverters

SMA ‘Sunnyboy’ inverters have been around for a long time, and this German company make great products, and also look after their customers.  They have an office in Sydney, and in the unlikely event you have to claim warranty on one of their products, they ship replacements pretty quickly.  All their inverters come with 5 years warranty as standard, however it is possible to purchase extended warranty at any time, up until the fifth anniversary.
There are also quite a few re-badged SMA inverters out there, like BP Solar and SolarShop, and SMA look after these as well.

Sunny Roo Inverters

Sunnyroo and Sunna inverters are identical, and have the same faults on them.  These cheap inverters were imported by Beyond Building who are no longer trading, so there is no warranty support on these.
